Senior Analyst: Collections, Fraud and Recoveries (Ref 117)

UNFORTUNATELY, THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED. The primary purpose of this role is to provide analytical insights of the Fraud and Collections portfolios by gathering and analyzing data, recommending actions based on insights which will then be presented to Executives, Senior Managers, Stakeholders and Shareholder. You will also participate in the initiation, definition, leading and delivery of strategic projects within your portfolio of responsibility. By performing advanced statistical analyses you will be able to assist in detecting behavioural patterns and translating your findings into business actions that will lead to an improvement of financial results for the Division and the company.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Statistical analysis, modeling, optimization, forecasting and data mining of various data sets to support strategic decision-making within Collections, Recoveries and Fraud
  • Identifying, developing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Shareholder
  • Preparing of weekly/monthly presentations and reports on business performance indicators within the Collections, Recoveries and Fraud environment
  • Maintaining and analyzing of Triad, Vision+ and Collect Smart related data in order to propose new Collections strategies
  • Clearly documenting the business requirements of projects presented to the Collections Managers
  • Acting as project manager with regards to any System changes (eg Vision, CTA etc) or Champion Challenger scenarios that may be required
  • Conducting research to ensure best practices are applied in the Division
  • Interpreting of analytics to understand how current Collections, Recoveries and Fraud processes can be enhanced, leading to improvements in the related strategies
  • Ensuring correct and timeous deployment of decision rules in the live system environment
  • Coordinating and managing the UAT testing process
  • Liaising and management of internal relationships between departments in order to collate and validate data/processes
  • Producinhg and developing the portfolio Quality and Benchmarking reports
  • Daily, weekly and monthly updating and timeous distribution of reports
  • Ensuring Collections and Fraud Managers have access to the information they require in a format that is appropriate and useful
  • Ensuring key deliverables with stakeholder are met eg. timeous delivery of outputs; post implementation review of initiatives

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s qualification in Commerce, Science, or Humanities with a focus on Statistics, IT, Economics, Mathematics, or similar
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the following:
    • Credit risk analysis on lending products
    • Extensive understanding of relational databases and ability to effectively utilize statistical software - particularly SAS
    • Bad debt provisioning techniques (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of Basel II & National Credit Act (NCA) advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Good planning and organisation skills
  • Must be able to manage and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivery is vital.
  • Strong ability to interpret data, communicate this to and influence key stakeholders
  • MS Office (advanced) essential
  • Technical proficiency in Triad, Vision+ and Collect Smart essential
  • SQL and SAS experience in coding and data analysis essential.
